Sip on a warm, comforting cup of bone broth that’s packed with nutrients and rich flavor. Perfect for a cozy night in, this broth is a delicious way to enjoy all the goodness that comes from high-quality, pasture-raised beef bones.
- Prep Time:
- Cook Time:
- Servings: 8-10 Cups
Ingredients
- (2-3 lbs) Beef Bones
- 1 Onion (Chopped)
- 2 Carrots (Chopped)
- 2 Celery Stalks (Chopped)
- 4 Cloves Garlic (Minced)
- (2 tbsp) Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 Bay Leaves
- (1 tsp) Black Peppercorns
- Salt to taste
- Water (enough to cover ingredients)
Directions
1. Prepare the Bones:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- Spread the beef bones on a baking sheet and roast for 30 minutes, turning once halfway through, until they’re browned and aromatic.
2. Combine Ingredients:
- Place the roasted bones in a large stockpot or slow cooker.
- Add the onion, carrots, celery, garlic, bay leaves, and apple cider vinegar.
- Pour in enough water to cover the bones by about an inch.
3. Cook the Broth:
- Stovetop: Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for 12-24 hours. The longer it simmers, the richer the broth.
- Slow Cooker: Set on low and cook for 12-24 hours.
4. Skim and Strain:
- Occasionally skim off any foam or impurities that rise to the top.
- After cooking, strain the broth through a fine-mesh sieve into a large bowl.
- Discard the solids.
5. Season and Store
- Season the broth with salt and pepper to taste.
- Let it cool, then refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for later use.
Enjoy your homemade bone broth as a nourishing drink or as the base for soups and stews!
